Dear PLS,
I just got my period. Should I eat certain foods during that time?
Signed,
F.L.
Dear F.L.,
That’s a good question. The doctor we asked said that there’s no need to eat anything special, but as always get a good variety of healthy foods.
Your regular diet should include iron-rich foods since girls lose some iron during their periods. Here are some iron-rich foods to include in your normal diet: red meat, pork, fish and shellfish, poultry, lentils, beans and soy foods, green leafy vegetables, and raisins. Some flours, cereals, and grain products are also fortified with iron.
Think Pink!
